Frequently asked
- How does Compressly shrink my videos?
- Compressly re-encodes your video using your iPhone’s built-in hardware encoder (Apple’s AVFoundation and VideoToolbox). That keeps it fast and stable even on long 4K clips, and it all happens on your device — nothing is ever uploaded.
- Will compressing ruin the quality?
- Compression is lossy, so there is always some trade-off — but the whole point of Compressly is to keep that trade-off invisible. Pick High when quality matters most, Medium for everyday sharing, or Low for the smallest possible file. The Smart recommendation will suggest the right preset for where the video is headed.
- Are my original videos safe?
- Yes. Compressly never deletes or modifies your originals. Compressed copies are saved into a separate Compressly album in Photos, so your originals stay exactly where they were until you choose to remove them.
- Where do compressed videos go?
- Into a dedicated Compresslyalbum in your Photos library. You can find it in the Photos app under Albums, share from there, or delete the originals once you’re happy with the result.
- Can I compress several videos at once?
- Yes. With Compressly PRO you can select up to 20 videos and compress them in a single batch. The App works through them one by one, shows live progress, and gives you one summary of everything you reclaimed.
- What does Compressly PRO cost?
- The App is free to download with 20 free compressions so you can try it. Compressly PRO unlocks unlimited compressions, batch processing, and every preset: $39.99 / year (3-day free trial) or $9.99 / week. Prices may vary by region — the exact price is shown in the App before you buy.
- How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
- Subscriptions are handled by Apple. On your iPhone, open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, select Compressly, and manage or cancel from there. Cancelling at least 24 hours before the period ends stops the next renewal. Note that deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
- How do refunds work?
- All purchases go through Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple too. You can request one at support.apple.com/HT204084. If something went wrong with the App itself, write to us first — we may be able to help.
- A video failed to compress. What should I do?
- Make sure you’ve granted Photos access in Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos, that you have enough free storage for the result, and that the video has finished downloading from iCloud. If it still fails, email us the details below and we’ll dig in.
